Oh geez. So I have this Halloween shindig to go to on Saturday and I’m not feeling an ounce of creativity nor do I have the funds to hit the costume store. I can’t even go back to costumes of my recent past. I’ve since converted my Superstar Barbie pink taffeta gown into a table throw and bestowed my tiny purse and tiara on my goddaughter. My zombie bride costume is out frankly because if you had any idea of what I’ve been through recently (my lawyer has advised I keep mum about it), I’m in no mood to dress up like a dead girl. My nerd getup is no good because I’ve purged all geeky clothes from my closet. And Morticia Addams is out because again, funeral themes … uh, no. If anything, after all the snares and trapdoors life has thrown my way lately that I’ve managed to narrowly escape from, I’d really like to be a superhero. That would make me feel strong and powerful again. And there it was on TotalBeauty! A pseudo super glam hero that I could create just with makeup. Makeup no less that I own but will never use because as pretty as peacock blue glitter eyeshadow looks on the shelves of Sephora, it looks ridiculous in the stark light of reality. In fact, TotalBeauty offers a series of step-by-step videos that hold your hand through the makeup application process of about six different looks — from Amy Winehouse to a Twiggy 60s girl. But I’m going with the Glamorous Mask myself created by MAC Cosmetics (video below). Maybe I’ll use that pink taffeta tablecloth as a cape. Ha! Have a delightful Halloween and don’t eat too much candy (no matter what the skincare experts say, I swear that stuff gives you zits).
