Now here’s a do we can handle. The rough and tumble bohemian-style hair seen on Fashion Week runways in Milan were created by Redken Creative Consultant Guido (yes, just Guido!).
Created for Italian designer Alberta Ferretti’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection show, the hair style was inspired by a rock and roll vibe – messy with matte, natural textured. The collection features long, flowing feminine dresses with a hippie vibe, so the hair complements the clothes rather than contrasting it.
“Alberta Ferretti is a show that women always look forward to because the fashion is very feminine – the kind of clothes any woman would want to wear,” says Guido. “To complement the easiness on the runway, I created natural bohemian hair, yet still keeping each woman unique by simply enhancing her natural texture.”
Here’s how he created the look using Redken velvet Gelatine 07.
1. Apply a generous amount of Redken velvet gelatine 07 cushioning blow dry gel in your hands and work into damp hair, applying it by scrunching it in sections, concentrating at the roots to bring out the natural texture.
2. Finger dry hair with a blow dryer, scrunching sections toward the scalp and lightly twist pieces away from the face.
3. Before strutting down the runway (or Stetson Drive in Old Town Scottsdale), rough up the texture with your hands just a bit, but not touching it too much to keep the matte texture.
