With a name that includes the words “magic” and “perfecting,” the new L’Oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base had a lot to live up to in my mind. I’m always very cautious about face products; I have a tendency to break-out and hate taking that risk.
I was intrigued though by this new primer from L’Oreal’s Studio Secrets Professional line. Since I made the switch from liquid foundation to mineral powder a few years ago, I had been missing the super flawless look that foundation tends to give you when you first apply it. Mineral powder is great for my skin, but doesn’t always cover all the imperfections that I’d like it to.
This new product from L’Oreal promises to fill in lines and minimize the appearance of pores so that skin is smooth and matte. The pink-hued formula looks creamy and feels a little waxy to the touch, but once you apply it to your skin, it feels super light and powdery. It doesn’t take much to cover your entire face (the little .5 oz jar has already lasted me 3 weeks and it’s still more than half full).
The formula is 100% oil-free, fragrance-free, non-comedogenic and non-acnegenic — meaning it doesn’t clog pores or lead to breakouts (yay!).
The base makes your skin look flawless even before you put on your makeup. Plus, it helps your makeup to stay in place all day long. And with summer around the corner, it may just be my new little secret to keep my makeup from melting!
