Mineral Hygienics is the new kid on the mineral makeup block, selling loose powder formulated from crushed minerals. The makeup contains no fillers, harsh dyes or man-made fragrances. If you're a fan of mineral makeup, you'll probably be a fan of Mineral Hygienics. But this review is going to focus on what I found to be the standout product from their starter kit: the Mineral Hygienics Glow Illuminizer.
You can use the Glow Illuminzer in conjunction with other Mineral Hygienics products or, like me, add it as the final touch to a traditional concealer and foundation combination. Because I have really sensitive skin, mineral makeup has never worked for me. It tends to clog my pores (I don't know why!).
So my routine looks something like this: SPF-packed moisturizer, primer, foundation and light touches of concealer where I need it. A light dusting of the Glow Illuminizer on my cheeks gives a perfectly sun-kissed look for every day. On a recent Mexico vacation, I expanded that to include my face and shoulders for a more beach appropriate shine. You can even add just a tiny dash of blush for more definition, but be careful to blend well.
Mineral Hygienics' Glow Illuminizer is really easy to apply, too. You just shake a little into the cap, swirl and tap your brush, then lightly brush it onto your face. When you read the Mineral Hygienics directions before your first application, do yourself a favor and listen to them when they say a little bit goes a long way! I didn't, and ended up having to wash and re-do my face in a hurry.
