Peter Lamas Ultra Awesome, Ultra Natural Haircare

11/03/2010 by azspagirl

Lord knows, I love my Kerastase. There is absolutely nothing like the silky soft, amazing smelling hair that this pocketbook-bending but got-to-have-it haircare line doth make. But ever since my chat with Tata Harper, I’ve been working toward cleaning up my act. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to be sporting Birkenstocks any time soon. I’m just making a concerted effort to feed my skin and hair the least amount of chemicals as possible. And when I stumble on product lines like Peter Lamas, the switch is a cinch.

Peter Lamas is apparently a big shot in the beauty biz. He’s written books, regularly rubs shoulders with celebrities and gets into all the hot Hollywood events (his products were featured in the 2010 Emmy gifting lounge). But who really cares, it’s about the product right?

Well, smack me and call me Sally because I’m crazy about his Avocado & Olive Ultra-Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner. Sure they’re vegan, cruelty free, paraben-free, petrochemical-free and contain organic botanicals. That’s all well and good. But the stuff smells like a bowl of sunshine and really works to make my hair shiny and smooth. And that’s what’s important!

Part of his Naturals hair line, the Peter Lamas Avocado & Olive Ultra-Smoothing Shampoo is rich and luscious and lathers like a luxury shampoo – despite that it contains no sodium lauryl or laureth sulfates. I can only describe the smell as happy. The Ultra-Smoothing Conditioner on the other hand has a slightly exotic aroma that leaves your hair kissed with a fresh, clean scent. Both coat your tresses in formulations rich in avocado, olive oil, vitamins and herbal extracts.

Both are also formulated for “frizzy, unruly, coarse” hair. If that’s not your challenge (lucky you), try the Soy Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner for chemically treated or dry hair or the Rice Protein Volumizing duo for fine or limp hair. He also has a Chinese Herbs line that promotes healthy hair growth.

Peter Lamas haircare products hover around the $18 mark and are available at Sprouts Farmers Markets or peterlamas.com.

Bye for now Kerastase, I’ll miss you!
