The Face of Spring: Nordstrom Beauty Trend Show Highlights

Drum roll, please … announcing the three hottest makeup trends for the face of Spring and Summer 2007: Delicate Blush, Warm Glow and Vivid Lips. Last Saturday morning, I was one of about 200 women (and maybe four dudes) who crowded into the Nordstrom at Scottsdale Fashion Square for the annual Spring Cosmetics Trend Show. The presentation was a little like a super-caffeinated cross between The Price is Right and QVC but hey, we got a free muffin. Highlights from the show:

No one helps us create the warm, pretty glow better than Bobbi Brown, who, by the way, recently celebrated her 50th birthday. Create the look with the Sandstone Shimmer Brick, Summer Pot Rouge and Long-Wear Cream Shadows from her new collection.
You’ve either found the perfect foundation and stick to it like glue or you’re still on the hunt like me. Check out the new Custom Blend Foundation, Powder and Concealers from Prescriptives. Not only can they precisely match your skin tone through their patented Colorprint system, but they can formulate your foundation with boosters for hydration, oil control, brightening or firming.
The plumper, the better. At least with lips anyway. Laura Mercier’s Lip Plumpers hydrate and plump with fresh spring colors like Persimmon and Pink Grapefruit.
Speaking of lips, MAC Cosmetics unveiled their Plusglass glosses. They plump, they shine and they dazzle with springy hues like Oh-Oh! and Bingo!
Lancome added a new mascara to their already complex collection of lash extenders and thickeners with the new Cils Design Pro Custom Design Double Mascara (say that three times fast).
Honorable mention should definitely go to Smashbox Cosmetics for dosing their best-selling primers and foundations with sun protection. The High Definition Healthy FX Foundation SPF 15 is packed with anti-aging ingredients and the Photofinish Foundation Primer SPF 15 also has an added anti-aging complex booster. Go Dean and Davis!
The Philosophy folks were on hand to remind us ever so gently that the best way to a warm, pretty glow is great skin. And the Makeup Optional Skin Kit will set you on your way (I personally couldn’t live without the Purity Cleanser and Lifting Serum and this kit is an amazing value). They’ve also introduced a fast-track version of their Microdelivery Peel kit with their new Microdelivery Micro-Massage Exfoliating Wash.
Finally, no self-respecting girl leaves the house with nappy nails and Deborah Lippmann has made it her mission to make maintaining pretty nails easy, fast and fun. She was personally on-hand to show off her Smooth Operator Nail Buffer, The Stripper nail polish remover and new spring color collection. To blend with the face of spring, the look for nails is beiges and nudes to create the illusion of longer, more shapely hands.
