Olay Pro-X Cleansing System: Say Hello to My New Best Friend

11/07/2011 by Katarina Kovacevic

When I first saw commercials for the Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System, I thought to myself, “Who would pay extra money for a cleansing brush when you have hands that can scrub dirt and oil off your face just as well?” That was before I used the thing.

To be concise, I’m glad I finally broke down and tried it. So is my skin.

According to the Olay Pro-X team, the entire system, which includes the soft bristle brush and Exfoliating Renewal Cleanser, is supposed to set-up your skin for “supersonic anti-aging moisturization.” Now, I’m not a dermatologist so I can’t present you with any scientific evidence to prove this claim but I can tell you this: my skin has never felt cleaner.

I use the Olay Pro-X soft scrubbing brush twice a day, every day and especially love how fresh and healthy it makes my face feel at night. It’s like a mini facial after a long day of sun, pollution and stress have done their damage to my sensitive skin.

A couple of months ago, I reached the point where I felt like the area around my chin in particular was always facing some kind of breakout. Since I started using the Olay Pro-X system, my breakouts have noticeably subsided.

Now, there could be multiple factors that play into this conclusion. I’ve started paying more attention to my products and skincare regimen in general (working as an AZ Spa Girl will do that to you), but I have no doubt that incorporating the Olay Pro-X brush into my daily routine has helped.

If anything, it at least amps up the power of my everyday cleanser by helping it seep deeper into clogged pores. Plus, the brush itself is a powerful but gentle exfoliator so you’re basically supporting the regeneration if new skin cells every time you use it. This, on my skin in particular, has helped get rid of minor acne scars and discoloration.

I mentioned above that I have sensitive skin. On top of that, it’s also oily and dry. Lucky me. So, it probably goes without saying that I can’t afford to switch up my daily cleansing process too much. Because of this, I use the Olay Renewal Cleanser as a twice-weekly exfoliator instead of as an every day go-to.

I like the fact that it’s a light exfoliant. There are no harsh beads so the scrubbing process, which has been known to irritate and make my skin red, is calming but still gets the job done. Coupled with the Olay Pro-X brush, it packs a powerful punch. At first, my skin feels a little taught but that’s nothing a good non-comedogenic moisturizer hasn’t been able to fix.

So, my Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System and I have become quite good friends. I may or may not buy the Exfoliating Renewal Cleanser again but I’ve already stocked up on brush refills. That puppy’s not going anywhere.

Get the Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System at most major beauty retailers starting at approximately $30.

Thanks for the review. I have been wanting one of these but I also have sensitive skin, but need exfoliation…I think this will be going on my Christmas wish list now. 🙂

How does this compare to the clairsonic brush? Have you tried that one?
